We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Desktop Support Specialist to join our IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing hardware and software inventory, overseeing equipment orders from vendors, shipping hardware to various locations, activating software licenses, and reimagining laptops to ensure optimal performance across our organization. This role is integral to maintaining the seamless operation of IT systems and ensuring all staff have the tools they need to perform their work effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management:
Maintain and track inventory of all desktop hardware and peripherals. Perform regular audits to ensure accurate stock levels and proper documentation. - Vendor Relations:
Coordinate with vendors to order new desktop equipment, laptops, and peripherals. Ensure timely delivery and accurate order fulfillment based on company needs. - Shipping & Logistics:
Handle the shipping of equipment to various office locations and remote staff, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of IT assets. - Licensing & Activation:
Manage the activation and installation of software licenses on new equipment, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements and providing support for license-related issues. - Laptop Reimaging:
Oversee the reimaging of laptops, including installation of standard software, system updates, and configuration for end users. Ensure that devices are secure and prepared for deployment. - End-User Support:
Provide desktop support and troubleshooting for hardware and software issues. Assist users with setup and usage of company equipment. - Documentation & Reporting:
Create and maintain up-to-date documentation on inventory, processes, and configurations. Generate regular reports on equipment usage, licensing, and inventory status. - Collaboration with IT Team:
Work closely with other IT professionals to support infrastructure needs and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in desktop support, IT support, or a similar role (1-2 years of experience overall).
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with managing and reimaging laptops (e.g., using Windows Deployment Services, SCCM, or similar tools).
- Familiarity with software licensing and asset management tools.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with Service Desk+ is a plus.
