Unit Highlights
The MedStar Georgetown Psychiatric Partial Hospital Program (PPHP) is an intensive treatment program for people with an acute psychiatric illness. It supplements, but does not replace, the patient's own psychiatrist and/or therapist. Treatment is provided in collaboration with these clinicians. The program can be used as a transition for patients being discharged from an inpatient hospitalization or as an intervention for patients who require more intensive care than they can receive in the outpatient setting. A personalized interdisciplinary treatment plan is provided to help patients gain control over their symptoms and develop more effective coping skills. The staff meets three times a week to develop the treatment plans for each patient, evaluate the efficacy of the treatment, and to make additional recommendations upon completion of the treatment.
