DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Transfer Center arranges patient transfers and inpatient consults to all four UW Medicine hospitals (HMC, UWMC-ML, UWMC-NW, VMC) from across Washington, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho. The Transfer Center Coordinator is responsible for receiving and documenting incoming calls from providers requesting to transfer patients to UW Medicine. The Transfer Center also manages calls from our physician specialist line, which connects practitioners throughout the WWAMI region with advice and consultations from UW Medicine’s excellent group of specialists.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Answer calls from outside providers in the WWAMI region and beyond requesting patient transfers and consultations.
Connect callers with UW Medicine providers for consultation.
Document calls & record consult notes into Epic.
Assess callers needs to prioritize emergent or critical issues and direct to the appropriate resource as needed.
Collect patient and provider demographics and referring facility contact information to document transfers in Epic.
Assist nursing staff by providing nonclinical info to callers and/or directing callers to appropriate clinics.
Assist staff with data integrity and maintenance for the preparation of reports
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in a healthcare or call center setting
OR equivalent education/experience.
Additional Departmental Requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows navigation & Microsoft Office Suite
Proficiency in Epic
