Join us as our new Surveyor - Grade I
We are looking for another member to join our Survey and Positioning Team in Houston, Texas. Our working environment consists of highly educated, skilled, positive, innovative, and enthusiastic employees.
The Surveyor Grade I function is to implement and maintain survey standards during offshore operations. This includes setting up and operating the survey equipment, logging, Quality Control and backing up of data. The Surveyor Grade I will assist the Senior Surveyor or Party Chief, following instructions and fulfilling a shift role unsupervised.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Competent to set-up and test the online navigation and data logging systems
- Competent to run the daily operation of on-line systems
- Competent for maintaining survey quality records (including daily logbook)
- Take reasonable care of the health and safety of themselves and others and to take the necessary steps to protect the environment.
- Take part in hazard identification and risk assessment as required by Offshore Manager
- Understand the calibration process of survey sensors
- Understand the quality control of positioning systems/ sensors and logged data
- Performance of work role in accordance with company and project policies & procedures
- Ensure that data gathered is in accordance with contractual and company specification
- Be aware of the operational activities and logged data that does not meet acceptance criteria
- Be aware of emergency procedures and drills
- Cooperate with supervisors and managers on Health safety and environmental matters and not interfere with anything provided to safeguard their Health and Safety.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Degree in Surveying/Geomatics or equivalent
Experience / Knowledge:
- Nominally 12 months experience, including 120 operational days offshore as a Surveyor Grade II
- Appropriate offshore medical and offshore survival certificates
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Works in office environment approximately 10% using standard office equipment
- Spends time sitting in an aircraft varying from 1 hour to 12 hours for national/international travel
- Spends time in offshore environment and offsite contractor locations 80% of the time which can involve moderate exposure to noise levels and machinery
- While performing duties of this job, would occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, kneel, talk, and hear, use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools, and controls
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required include near and far vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- Shift work week offshore is 84 hours (7 days a week 12-hour shift)
