Develops, implements, and maintains network communications. Develops and maintains coaxial cable TV headend communications. Uses knowledge of LAN systems to design and provide on-site management of internal network communications projects. Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements. Coordinates the setup and operation of IT equipment and approved applications with Helpdesk support personnel. Responsible for projects when Systems Manager is unavailable.
Essential Duties:
1. Assists with design projects on all campuses with regards to the Network Division.
2. Assists with design and implement network related communication equipment and wiring.
3. Assists Network Systems Manager with all network related projects.
4. Installs, terminates, and repairs network cabling to include fiber, CAT5/6; communications cable including analog phone and coaxial; security devices including cameras and door entry systems.
5. Responds to all user requests for technical support in a timely and effective manner.
6. Accurately maintains a log of projects, user workstation problems identified, and solutions implemented.
7. Diagnoses and implements solutions to user workstation problems.
8. Assists other Helpdesk support staff with hardware and software support.
9. Coordinates the setup, repair, upgrade of IT-related hardware to include computers, printers, scanners, etc.
10. Assists with the oversight of the Cable TV installation and maintenance program.
11. Assists with the oversight of the Systems Monitoring and Access Controls installation and maintenance program.
1. Associate Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field is required. Equivalent experience may be substituted for a degree.
2. Technically proficient in CAT5/6 cabling, required.
3. Must be able to complete Fiber Certification within 1 year, training provided.
4. A minimum of 1 year experience in a customer support/service, or providing technical support environment, is required. A minimum of 3 years’ experience is required if substituted for a degree.
5. Must be experienced in computer setup and configuration.
6. Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office products is required.
7. Bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing/pulling, prolonged sitting/standing.
8. Must be proficient in general office equipment operation.
9. Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.
10. Must be at least 21 years of age.
11. Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license.
12. Must be available for travel as needed.
13. Position is onsite/no remote or hybrid work available.
