The Travel Nurse (RN) in Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) provides critical nursing care primarily to medical-surgical patients with oncology history, including the administration of chemotherapy. This role requires a valid NC nursing license, a minimum of one year of experience in an inpatient setting, and specialized certifications. The nurse will work night shifts, float between units, and is responsible for patient monitoring and care under various circumstances.

Shift: Nights, 6:45p-7:15a, 12x4, 48hrs per week, will accept 36hrs, EOW
Length: 13 weeks
Call Requirement: Call required if called off on a prescheduled shift
Requirements:
- NC License
- 1 Year Experience
- BLS
- Skills: Administer chemo. Experience in an inpatient setting is required, Med/Surg, Colostomy care, Accessing Ports, Blood Product Administration, Central line blood draw, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management, Heparin, Insulin, Chemotherapy Administration, Monitoring Chemotherapy, Surgical drains, Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac, Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management, Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac
- Chemotherapy administration certification is required
- CPI, Charge nurse experience, OCN preferred
- Will accept travelers that do not currently have the ONC cert!
- Unit Systems (Medication, Documentation, Communication): PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR
- Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty
- Traveler Experience: Will accept 1st time travelers

- Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients holding, such as inpatient holding in the ED, or any alternate medical patient care location.

JOB DETAILS:

Target Ratios: 1:6-7
Shift: NIGHTS; Unit will accept contracts from 13 weeks+ up to March 15, 2025 (hard stop) to get the unit through the holidays!
Call Requirement: Call required if called off on a prescheduled shift.
Float Requirement: Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients holding, such as inpatient holding in the ED, or any alternate medical patient care location.
Weekend Requirement: *EVERY OTHER WEEKEND REQUIRED.
PATIENT DIAGNOSES: General medical-surgical diagnosis primary patient population. Administration of chemotherapy/biotherapy -IV, PO, or injection.
AKI, Sepsis, Cancer, Septic shock, Pain, OD, Malignant Neoplasms, ARF, Encephalopathy, FTT, Diabetic foot ulcers, Heparin drips,
SPECIAL PROCEDURES / UNIT DETAILS: Daily Census 42.
During times of increased census, typical ratios may be higher.
UNIT SYSTEMS (Medication, Documentation, Communication): PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR.
UNIT ORIENTATION: 24 hrs (2 shifts)
SCRUBS: Navy Blue and white.
