The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in General Inpatient Medicine is responsible for providing acute and chronic care to pediatric patients in a hospital setting. This role involves collaboration with a physician for patient assessments and treatment planning, as well as participation in quality initiatives and education for nursing staff. Candidates should have significant inpatient pediatric experience and relevant certifications.
This Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will be responsible for:- Providing care to infants, children, adolescents and families including the management of acute and chronic illnesses requiring hospitalization on acute care medical units
- Collaborating with the collaborating physician to conduct patient assessments, medical histories, physical exams, and diagnose health and developmental problems.
- Participating in inpatient medical rounds, including the presentation of clinical information, the progress and management of patients, and assisting in establishing and implementing treatment plans.
- Participating in or leading quality and safety initiatives
- Offering expertise as consultant and educator to nursing staff.
- Rotating 10-12 hour shifts on a per diem basis (minimum 4 shifts/6 week block).
- To qualify, you must have:
- A minimum of 2+ years inpatient pediatric experience with preference for those with experience in caring for higher acuity or higher complexity patients
- 1+ year of Pediatric NP or PA experience preferred
- Would consider new graduate nurse practitioner with recent pediatric inpatient RN experience
- Master’s Degree with current NP or PA license, BLS and PALS certification
