Position Summary: The Executive Vice President of Construction (EVP) is a critical member of the executive team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Construction Department. This role requires an expert in construction management with extensive experience in building multi-family housing communities across many markets simultaneously. The EVP will lead, mentor, and manage all construction employees, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role also involves regular travel to job sites to ensure project oversight and compliance.
Executive Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other executives to develop and implement strategic initiatives that align with the company’s goals and drive long-term growth.
- Participate actively in executive meetings, providing insights and updates on construction projects and departmental performance.
- Foster a collaborative environment within the executive team to ensure alignment and support across all departments in order to maximize the benefit of being a vertically integrated company.
Leadership & Management:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Construction Department.
- Oversee the performance and development of all construction employees.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.

Project Oversight:
- Ensure the successful execution of all construction projects from inception to completion.
- Monitor project progress, quality, and budget adherence.
- Address any issues affecting project timelines or costs and provide effective solutions.
- Travel to job sites as needed to ensure project oversight and compliance.
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives that align with company and department goals and drive long-term growth and predictability of results.
- Determine how company can successfully build new building types and enter new markets.
Policy & Procedure Development:
- Develop and implement construction policies and procedures to achieve company goals.
- Ensure adherence to corporate policies and industry standards.
Innovation and Technology:
- Lead the adoption of new construction technologies to improve efficiency and project outcomes.
- Promote sustainable building practices and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Financial Management:
- Oversee department-level and project-level budgets, financial reporting, and cost management.
- Work closely with the Construction Accounting department to ensure financial accuracy.
- Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including investors, partners, KCG department leads, and all KCG Construction team members
- Represent the Construction Department in executive meetings and report on project status.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
Training and Development:
- Oversee the continuous professional development of the construction team, ensuring they have access to the latest training and industry best practices.
- Develop succession plans to ensure leadership continuity within the department.
Risk Management:
- Conduct regular risk assessments and implement strategies to mitigate potential project risks.
- Monitor and improve quality of all contracts, forms, and standard exhibits.
- Coordinate and direct subcontract resolutions for best outcomes.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Promote and enforce a culture of safety within the Construction Department.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes.
Performance Metrics:
- Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track the performance of construction projects and the department as a whole.
Reporting:
- Provide regular updates to the President and executive team on project statuses, departmental performance, and strategic initiatives.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 20 years of experience in construction management.
- Extensive experience in building multi-family housing communities.
- Knowledge of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) programs.
- Proven experience in leading and managing large teams including a significant percentage of remote staff.
Skills:
- Expertise in project management methodologies and procedures.
- Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
