The primary purpose of the position is to perform law enforcement work to maintain law and order, preserve the peace, protect life and civil rights, detect and investigate crimes, arrest or apprehend violators, and perform patrols within the assigned jurisdictions.
The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is recruiting for Full-time/Term Police Officers to work with 460th Security Forces Squadron Buckley AFB, CO.

DUTIES:
• Enforce law, maintain law and order, preserve the peace, and protect life and civil rights with the jurisdiction of the military installation. Incumbent has full powers of apprehension and detention which entails carrying a firearm, mirandizing suspects, preserving evidence and testifying in court.
• Serves as a dispatcher for the installation and dispatches police units to scenes of crimes, accidents and natural disasters.
• Performs full range of Entry Control and ensures individuals requesting access to the installation have proper identification to enter.
• Performs the full range of duties for defending protection level resources and serves as a restricted entry controller and immediate visual assessments sentry providing surveillance for sensitive, restricted, and limited access areas.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (KSA’s):
• Knowledge of police officer procedures and operating methods to perform the full range of police officer activities independently
• Knowledge of special operating requirements, methods, and procedures for enforcing specialized personnel access controls and preventing unauthorized access to areas where stringent security requirements are enforced
• Knowledge of rights of detained individuals and organizational rules regarding the appropriated use of force to be used in the apprehension of persons
• Knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques for functioning as a quick reaction force team member in support of integrated base defense of the operation of specialized weapons, security systems, and equipment
• Knowledge of the tactics, techniques, and procedures for preparation and response to catastrophic events, enemy attacks, and relate threats to installations
• Ability to operate an incident management system

• Must be able to obtain and maintain the necessary and required security clearance.
• Ability to employ ‘infantry/SWAT’ small unit tactics involving fire and maneuver, with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions, while wearing protective gear for extended periods of (e.g. Employing “Active Shooter” response tactics and techniques as a member of a small team is required).
• Must pass formal law enforcement training school as determined by AF/A4S and obtain DoD Peace Officer Standardization and Training Certification.
• U.S. Citizenship Required.
• Must pass an initial pre-employment medical examination, periodic medical examinations, meet established hearing standards and discern colors, contrast, and depth, and required initial and annual Department of the Air Force Civilian Police (DACP) Physical Agility Test ***
The Physical Agility Test (PAT) is a condition of employment standard which requires applicants to successfully pass the established standards push-ups 19 (within 2 minutes), and 1.5-mile run (17:30 or less).
