Position: Medical Systems Engineering Technologist II
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
The UHS HTM Medical Systems Engineering Technologist (MSET II) performs evaluations, repairs, inspections, and preventive
maintenance on devices used in the care and treatment of patients at UHS facilities, affiliates, and other institutions that have
relationships either owned or contractual. Focuses his or her performance to ensure that all patients receive the safest and best
possible experience while at the facilities serviced by the UHS HTM Program. Works independently with minimal supervision.
Delivers exceptional customer service to patients, physicians, nurses, technicians, administrators and all persons who are
contacted during the course of their service. Delivers service that meets and exceeds all regulatory requirements and compliance
for the position held. Assists UHS HTM leadership with developing and strengthening facility and vendor relationships. Responsible
for executing and meeting all requirements of the established key performance indicators (KPIs).
Documents and maintains records of all work activities in the computerized maintenance
management software. Participates in continuing education. Participates in on-call
schedule/rotation as directed. Routinely manages the corrective and preventive maintenance
of devices as assigned as well as follow-up communications on this work and any other
assigned responsibilities. Travels to other sites from primary location as directed/needed.
Understands and employs all regulatory requirements. Understands and properly operates
all test equipment required for the repair and maintenance of devices in the HTM Program.
Pulls and terminates cabling including fiber optic cabling. Follows all established corporate
and local policies and procedures pertinent to the position held. Participates in and/or
facilitates in-service education to device users. Provides cross-training/education to other
HTM team members. Coordinates the ordering of replacement parts and/or service on
devices. Ensures replacement parts/services are delivered and ensures accuracy of
invoicing. Ensures all exchange parts ordered by the MST are returned for proper credit within
the time frame specified.

Qualifications Education, Training, Experience and Licenses/Registrations Required:
- High School Graduate/Equivalent
- Professional Certification: MINIMUM 1 – 3 YEARS
- Technical School/1 Year College: PREFERRED
- Technical School/2 Years College /
Associate’s Degree: MINIMUM - Bachelor’s Degree: PREFERRED
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
Experience with healthcare technology management programs
ACI Certification (CBET, CRES, CLES or CHTM)
Must possess skill-set of advanced modality HTM expertise such as clinical laboratory, medical imaging,
radiation/oncology or high-end biomedical devices such as device integration/networking
Medical equipment knowledge (manufacturers, models, modalities, capital planning, etc.)
Understanding of regulatory requirements of medical devices (CMS, TJC, CLIA, AABB, NRC, State,
Local)
Advanced/Strong computer skills (proficient with Microsoft products) and experience with CMMS
products
Strong planning and organization skills
Excellent verbal, written, communication and presentation skills
Travel will be required periodically
