Who We Are
Clean Power Alliance (CPA) is Southern California’s locally operated non-profit default electricity provider for 35 communities within Los Angeles and Ventura counties and the 4th largest electricity provider in the State of California. We provide clean renewable energy at competitive rates to over three million residents and businesses through approximately one million customer accounts.
What You’ll Do
CPA is looking for enthusiastic and organized students, recent graduates, and young professionals seeking experience in clean energy, sustainability, and outreach fields. Through this internship, you will maintain a dashboard of metrics that connect the Communication and Marketing Department’s day-to-day activities with the overall business and operational goals of the agency. You will become familiar with and assist in maintaining the organization of our tools and department guidelines, including but not limited to our brand glossary, promotional inventory, SharePoint, Wrike, Mailchimp, Pickit, GA4, UX, and Canva. You will use your analysis and insights to drive recommendations for CPA’s digital marketing and communications campaigns. Additionally, you will work with CPA’s Strategy and Data team to support the application process of our member agencies in participating with Environmental Protection Agency programs. CPA internships are typically for a length of six months and can be extended, but no term is guaranteed.
Who You’ll Work With
The Communication and Marketing Intern (Analytics and Project Management) will report to our Marketing and Digital Strategy Manager. You will work with all members of CPA’s Marketing and Communication’s Team, as well as other members of CPA’s senior management team, elected officials of CPA’s Board of Directors, and have joint assignments with other interns.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Leverage Google Analytics to track and analyze website performance, traffic patterns, and user behavior.
- Analyze paid media performance data through Salesforce to assess campaign effectiveness and ROI.
- Create and maintain reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) for marketing campaigns and channels.
- Assist in building data dashboards or visual presentations to support team decision-making.
- Conduct competitive analysis and audience research to inform marketing strategies.
- Analyze customer feedback and campaign data to identify trends and opportunities.
- Monitor industry trends and provide actionable insights for team discussions.
- Prepare for meetings by organizing agendas and relevant materials, take detailed notes during meetings and distribute them in a timely manner.
- Track project timelines, deliverables, and budgets using project management tools.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors, including translation vendors, QA vendors, print vendors, and others, to ensure smooth project execution.
- Assist with large events and other department-wide activities as needed.
Qualifications
Candidates should have completed or be in the process of completing a secondary educational degree, with a desired focus in environmental, marketing, communications, project management, journalism, or other relevant areas of study. Work or volunteer experience is a plus but not required.
Required Skills
- Experience with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, and Google Analytics.
- High-level proficiency with MS Excel.
- Strong digital analytics experience (including but not limited to site analytics, media projections, results, etc.) especially on social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Meta/Facebook/Instagram, and YouTube.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with stakeholders and cross departmental teams, identify risks and escalate issues as needed.
- Ability to interpret data from tools like Google Analytics and Salesforce to identify trends and insights.
- Detail-oriented approach to analyzing campaign performance and presenting findings.
- Highly organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work with a high degree of accuracy
- Prior relevant coursework or 1+ years of experience with reporting and data analysis.
Desired Skills
- Experience with databases such as Salesforce or Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of CPA service territory.
- Interest in energy, clean technology, or public service.
- Valid California Driver’s License
Work Location
This position is a hybrid role and requires attendance in our downtown Los Angeles office 2- 3 days per week on days determined by CPA, with work location on the remaining days either in office or remote.
Compensation
Internship compensation ranges from $25 to $30 per hour, with exact compensation to be determined by Clean Power Alliance, dependent on skills and experience. This is a part-time/temporary position. Interns are only eligible for mandated benefits, such as sick pay, workers’ compensation, and Medicare contributions.
