Northstar Communications Inc. is a leading provider of telecommunications services, specializing in the installation, maintenance, and repair of cell towers across the southwest. We are looking for dedicated and experienced Cell Tower Technicians and Foremen to join our growing team. Job Description:
As a Cell Tower Technician / Foreman, you will be responsible performing installations, upgrades, maintenance, and repairs on cellular towers. You will ensure that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and within established timeframes. This role requires some overnight travel to various tower sites, with occasional extended stays depending on project needs.
Technician - Perform hands-on installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cell tower equipment, including antennas, cables, and associated hardware.
Foreman - Lead and supervise a team of cell tower technicians, perform hands-on installation ensuring work is completed according to safety standards and best practices.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with OSHA and other industry regulations.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to less experienced team members.
- Conduct tower inspections and routine maintenance to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
- Civil work as required, i.e. trenching, conduit installation, ground ring, etc.
- Coordinate onsite logistics, including tools, equipment, personnel, etc.
- Manage project timelines and report on progress to construction managers.
- Travel overnight to various job sites, often requiring stays away from home for multiple days.
- Complete and maintain accurate reports, including safety documentation, inspection records, and work orders.
Qualifications:
- Experience working as a cell tower technician or in a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in supervising or leading a team of technicians for Foreman position.
- Strong knowledge of cell tower operations, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Ability to climb towers and work at heights (300+ feet) as required.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Availability for multiple night travel and occasional extended stays.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- First Aid/CPR and OSHA certifications preferred.
- Tower climbing certifications (e.g., TTT, RF Safety) a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb and work at heights to 300+ feet.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment (up to 50 pounds) and work in all weather conditions.
- Comfort with working in a variety of environments, including remote or rugged locations.
- Good communicator and attention to safety and details.
- Required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and to reach with hands and arms.
- Required to climb, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, balance, talk and hear. The employee may also be required to drive, sit, crawl, etc.
