Speech Therapist (ST) Position Overview
The Speech Therapist (ST) is a professional member of our healthcare team who delivers skilled Speech Therapy services to clients. Working in compliance with professional standards and agency policies, the ST plays a key role in enhancing patients' quality of life. This role reports to the nursing supervisor and functions under a physician’s direction.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate clients’ speech, language, and hearing abilities, recommending strategies to enhance communication and hearing.
- Conduct initial and ongoing comprehensive assessments, including Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) evaluations.
- Develop and revise treatment plans in consultation with physicians as necessary.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members on care plans and provide speech pathology training to team members as needed.
- Educate clients and families on speech therapy techniques and related challenges.
- Document all evaluation data, treatments, and client progress promptly.
- Supervise Home Health Aides every 14 days when Speech Therapy is the sole discipline involved.
- Communicate regularly with physicians, ensuring orders are appropriate and addressing any changes in client condition.
- Participate in the periodic revision of care plans, updating the physician on client status and obtaining additional orders as required.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Speech Therapy program.
- Licensed Speech Therapist in Florida.
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience as a Speech Therapist.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Valid driver’s license and insured, reliable vehicle.
- Strong emotional resilience and physical stamina, including the ability to stand, stoop, and bend frequently.
- Excellent judgment, communication, and observational skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
