We are a large team of 40+ engineers, physicists, mathematicians, and computer scientists who perform mission-level analysis to drive acquisition decisions on important precision strike technologies. Our work is sophisticated, engaging, and frequently has significant impact on Department of Defense programs. As a Technical Lead you will…
- Lead small teams in the evaluation of precision strike and/or air combat system effectiveness using an assortment of mission-level analysis tools with the goal of discovering useful data, informing conclusions, and supporting decision-making.
- Provide technical thought leadership and task management to ensure high quality, insightful, and timely analysis.
- Support the development of detailed task execution plans, describing task objectives, technical approach, schedule, products, staffing requirements, and other required resources
- Will have regular communication with our sponsors to provide technical recommendations and direction as well as develop and integrate analytical capabilities
- Have opportunities to engage in independent research projects that encourage creative solutions and reward initiative
QualificationsYou will meet our minimum qualification for the job if you…
- Have a Bachelor's degree in Physics, Math, Computer Science, or Engineering, or a related area.
- Have demonstrated excellence in performing and leading mission-level modeling, simulation & analysis.
- Have experience in one or more of the following areas: air vehicle survivability analysis, electronic warfare analysis, simulation development, planning concept of operations, and end-to-end kill-chain analysis.
- Can work effectively in a highly collaborative environment and communicate sophisticated ideas directly with government civilians, military officers, and other contractors.
- Are skilled in conducting quantitative analysis, rapidly learning new and exciting concepts.
- Are able to obtain Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship
You’ll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you…
- Have a Master's or PhD degree in Physics, Math, Computer Science, or Engineering, or a related area.
- Have used analysis tools like AFSIM, Brawler, Suppressor, JIMM, or EADSIM for conducting mission-level survivability and effectiveness analysis for combat aircraft and strike weapon systems.
- Have an active Top-Secret security clearance.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
