Summary:
Coordinates transfers from outside facilities. Handles patient placement, incorporating clinical data. Expedites movement of
patients throughout the healthcare system.
Responsibilities:
Provides coordination of patient movement. Ensures timely coordination of transfer and discharge; communicates actions with physicians.
Arranges admissions and transfers according to system procedures.
Confirms medical necessity, appropriate level of care and legal and regulatory compliance with admission. Acts as a resource for EMTALA transfers.
Obtains clinical acceptance or denial of transfer. Documents admission and patient placement. Trains new personnel and other staff.
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements:- Credentials:
- Essential:
- Basic Life Support
- Registered Nurse
- Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program if less than 3 years experience. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
- 2 years of experience in critical care or ED setting.
- BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
