Description
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Second language a plus.
- Will actively seek Certification (CNA) within two cycles of offers as delineated in the Memorandum of Understanding.
- Basic computer skills.
- Assists with patient admissions, transfers and discharge.
- Provides Activities of Daily Living (ADL) care to includes, passing water, daily bed baths or daily shower, and morning oral hygiene, changing bed linens both unoccupied and occupied beds, cleaning overhead tables, straightening room snacks and other general care as needed.
- Provides evening care to include: passing water back rub if necessary, bed baths, shower, oral hygiene, changing bed linens both unoccupied and occupied beds, cleaning overhead tables, straightening room evening snacks and other general care as needed.
- Provides general nursing care such as positioning every two hours with documentation, transfers to chair or stretcher, lifting and turning patients, specialized equipment, bedpan, commode chair and ambulating patients.
- Answers call lights anticipates patient needs makes frequent rounds.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform procedures, ex; glucose monitoring, within the Nursing Assistant’s scope of practice.
- Performs hourly rounding and reports patients’ complaints about pain immediately to licensed personnel.
- Observes patients mental and physical conditions, reports change immediately to licensed personnel.
- Optimizes patient safety to include but not limited to: bed alarms on, fall risk signage, TIPPS boards up to date and accurate, socks, gait belt use, and call light in place.
- Maintains Universal Precautions and follows policies and procedures.
