The 20-bed Transitional Care Unit serves primarily short-stay recuperative and rehabilitation patients—a majority are geriatric and/or stable post-op orthopedic and oncology patients. The TCU is a family- and patient-focused environment where collaboration and communication are paramount, and you should be comfortable working with wound vacs, hoyer lifts, and standard IV therapy. You will partner with the patient and his or her family, along with a diverse roster of therapists and counselors to help the patient return home with as much independence as possible. The TCU features a wide array of recreational activities, 24-hour visitation for family and friends, and an onsite PT/OT gym. OAPSA clearance is required.

Shifts/Hours: Our RNs work a rotating 12-hour schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage on the floor.
Graduate Nurses must be eligible for State Board Licensure and successfully pass the examination before beginning this role OR ability to start with TPP and must obtain license within 4 months. Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the My Nursing Career Ladder based on their individual experience and education

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- UPMC approved national certification preferred.
