Safety Assistant III

HOW A SAFETY ASSISTANT III WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
● Monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
● Conduct surveillance at jobsites. Provide feedback to workers, installation leadership, and the safety team identifying good behaviors, areas for improvement, and corrective actions as necessary.
● Provide training to workforce on GDIT, local, state, federal, and relevant NAVSEA policies and procedures unique to each installation.
● Must be able to obtain and maintain access to a variety of private shipyards and government installations in support of installation activities.
● Assist the waterfront workforce and team leaders in aspects of environmental compliance such as tracking usage and emissions of a variety of hazardous substances.
● Exercise the ability to operate independently and provide inputs for process improvement to better protect the workforce and enhance GDIT’s ability to meet customer expectations.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
● Education: High School Diploma/GED
● Required Experience: 3+ years of related experience
● Required Technical Skills: Microsoft office familiarity
● Required Skills and Abilities: good communication, time management, knowledge of OSHA standards, Local Occupational Safety and Health Standards, and environmental regulations.

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $25.50 - $34.50. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
