We are seeking a Registered Nurse to:
• Join our fast-paced neuro specialty inpatient unit that offers an opportunity to advance your nursing skills utilizing evidence-based practice and become part of a collaborative team that encourages and helps one another to succeed.
• Work with a variety of both medical and surgical neuro patients on this 25-bed neurosurgery general care unit. Post-surgical cases may include spine surgeries, brain tumors, craniotomy or ophthalmology cases. The neurological patient population on this unit may include multiple sclerosis, ALS, Guillain-Barre syndrome, trauma or ortho patients with multiple injuries/diagnosis or spinal fractures requiring orthotics.
• Join our interdisciplinary team of stroke professionals. UW Health is proud to be a Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Program in WI with the ability to treat the most complex stroke cases in the state.
• Help provide the highest level of diagnosis and treatment options for people with epilepsy. This unit includes a Level IV Comprehensive Epilepsy Center as designated by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers.
• Provide patient and family centered care while partnering with a dynamic multidisciplinary team of nurses, nursing assistants, therapists, coordinated care, Advanced Practice Providers and medical teams who provide high quality, evidence-based care.

Minimum Requirements:
• Facility Requirement:
• Experience:
o Neurosurgery experience preferred.
o Traveler must have completed two years of acute care experience within last 3 years.
• Licensure and Certification:
o Traveler must have WI nursing license or compact license from their permanent address state.
o BLS – must be certified through American Heart Association ONLY
• Telemetry
o Traveler must have Basic Arrhythmia experience. Traveler will be required to pass UW Health Telemetry test prior to being cleared to start (not for clinic positions). UW Health Recruitment will send instructions to traveler 2-3 weeks prior to start date.
• Floating
o Travelers are the first to float to floors working with children up to 1 year of age and/or based on the traveler's competency skills/experience. The Traveler may have shifts scheduled in multiple units, depending on the current staffing needs and/or different locations within the organization. During the traveler’s assignment, if the primary unit no longer has a need, shifts will be re-assigned to another unit in order to complete contract.
