Job Summary: Plays a crucial role in providing immediate and specialized care to children facing acute illnesses or injuries in a dedicated pediatric emergency department. Quickly assesses the conditions of pediatric patients, prioritizes care based on severity of their conditions, and implements live-saving interventions.

- Provides family-centered care
- Quickly assesses patients to identify their needs
- Able to work well under pressure
- Works closely with our board-certified pediatric emergency room physicians, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and child life specialist to provide excellent care
- Explain treatment plans and procedures to patients and their families, offering emotional support and reassurance
- Maintains hospital and unit specific competencies
- Collaborate with the pediatric acute care team to coordinate transition of care for an admitted patient

The Pediatric Emergency Department at Monroe Carell Junior Children's Hospital Vanderbilt at Williamson Medical Center is a dynamic and specialized unit dedicated to providing the highest level of emergency care to children. This 8 bed department is staffed by a team of highly trained and qualified pediatric emergency nurses, physicians, and support staff. Being a pediatric emergency department nurse plays a crucial role in improving patient outcomes during critical moments. The department is supported by strong leadership who are committed to fostering a positive work environment, enhancing the quality of patient care, and promoting continuous learning and development among staff.
Experience Level: - At least 1 year of pediatric emergency experience preferred
Position Requirements: *Courses offered through the hospital and required within 6 months of hire*
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI)
