ANTS Sports is seeking passionate and committed part-time Youth Sports Coach Interns for the upcoming Spring 2025 season! This unique internship offers college students the opportunity to coach youth sports while gaining hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations and marketing of a youth sports organization.
Make a positive difference in America's youth by coaching after-school sports programs while supporting the operational needs of ANTS. No previous coaching experience is required – we provide comprehensive training for all interns.
Do you love working with youth, teaching sports and wellness, and are eager to learn the behind-the-scenes of running a youth sports organization? As a Youth Sports Coach Intern with ANTS (America's Next Talented Stars), you’ll both coach and assist with operational tasks in support of our programs at San Francisco area elementary schools. The Spring Season runs from January - June 2025 (must be available for the entire season). Successful interns may be offered future leadership roles. Time commitment is 3-10 hours per week, depending on coaching and operational needs.
Internship Responsibilities
Coaching:
- Lead or assist with fun and safe weekly sports practices for kids ages 5-10
- Teach the fundamentals of sports through game-filled lesson plans (training provided)
- Ensure program safety and reliability by arriving on time each week throughout the season
- Engage positively with parents, teachers, and school staff
- Set up and clean up the practice area before and after each session
- Transport sports coaching equipment to/from class each week
Operations:
- Assist in day-to-day operations, including program coordination, equipment management, and logistics
- Support marketing efforts, including social media updates, community outreach, and event promotion
- Help organize and documents and processes to help program improvement
- Collaborate with ANTS staff on strategic projects aimed at improving our programs and community impact
Location
Interns will coach and support operations at one or more ANTS partner elementary schools in East Bay and surrounding areas. The ANTS team will work with each intern to assign locations that fit their availability and proximity.
Schedule
- Coaching: Classes generally occur between 3 - 5 p.m. on a consistent weekday for a 10 to 14-week season. Each class lasts for 1 to 1.5 hours. Some programs may have back-to-back sessions for different age groups.
- Operations: Flexible work hours to complete operational and marketing tasks, with some remote and some on-site responsibilities, averaging a total of 3 hours per week.
Requirements
- Transportation: Reliable transportation to coaching sites; a vehicle is very helpful for equipment transport.
- Responsible & professional: Arrive on time for practices and maintain attendance records. Communicate positively with parents and school staff.
- Strong communicator: Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with ANTS, parents, and staff.
- Enthusiastic & fun: Be a positive role model, sharing ANTS’ values of sportsmanship, wellness, and positivity.
- Adaptable: Willingness to support various operational needs in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience: Experience as a player, coach, or in a related role (minimum of two years) is highly valuable, though optional.
Background check: Successful candidates must pass a Federal and state Background Check and/or FBI Fingerprinting (Livescan) and test negative for TB within the last 4 years.
