Job Description
Attend to the spiritual, emotional, psychosocial and cultural needs of patients, patients families, staff and volunteers of the assigned facility and Lee Health system.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides spiritual care in such a way as to accomplish the institutional, as well as the departmental objectives. Functions in such a manner that reflects the mission and vision of the institution.
- Works independently in the context of a strong spiritual services team and in cooperation with the interdisciplinary clinical team to provide quality services resulting in high patient satisfaction.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide a safe environment and communicate effectively with all age groups of patients served by the Spiritual Services Department.
- Effectively utilizes ones pastoral authority in establishing and maintaining pastoral and professional relationships.
- Conducts spiritual assessments, care, and counseling.
- Show compassions and respect for the dignity of each person demonstrating compassionate communication and listening skills.
- Works to offer support in crisis, loss, trauma situations and circumstances with multiple priorities.
- Participates in after hour and weekend on-call rotation.
- Participates in delivering and arranging appropriate pastoral care to patients, their loved ones by meeting ritual and sacramental needs. Participate in monthly staff meetings.
- Participates in regular professional development activities.
- Recruits, trains and oversee Spiritual Services volunteers.
- Discern and actively participates in ethical issues including familiarity with the professional guidelines for the Chaplains role on health care ethics. Also, strictly adheres to the Code of Ethics of the individuals professional association.
Requirements
Education: Masters degree in divinity or theology from a fully accredited university or seminary is required. Verification of a minimum of four units of clinical pastoral education (CPE) by an accredited Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) center is required.
Experience: 1 year of experience as a functioning chaplain preferred.
Certification: Board certification or eligible for board certification within two years of employment by the National Association of Catholic Chaplains, the Association of Professional Chaplains, or the National Association of Jewish Chaplains is required.
License: N/A
Other: A current letter of Denominational or Ecclesiastical Endorsement by the applicants faith group is required.
