Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited registered nursing Associate’s Degree program required. BSN preferred.
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan.
- Successful completion of Pharmacology exam.
- Current BLS certification.
- Two years of Acute Rehabilitation or Hospital experience as a Registered Nurse preferred.

This role involves comprehensive oversight of resident care, regulatory compliance, team supervision, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. Key responsibilities include:
Essential Duties:
- Patient Care Coordination: Conducts patient assessments, collaborates on care plans with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams, and adjusts care plans based on changing patient needs. Oversees discharge planning from admission onward.
- Health Teaching: Provides ongoing health education for patients and families, assessing understanding and documenting progress.
- Clinical Competence & Accountability: Identifies patient issues, manages acute situations, and transcribes medical orders accurately.
- Cultural, Legal, and Ethical Sensitivity: Recognizes cultural, legal, and ethical issues in patient care, utilizing resources as needed.
- Documentation: Completes precise and timely documentation, including patient responses, incidents, and discharge summaries.
- Leadership & Supervision: Delegates tasks appropriately, oversees nursing assistants, and manages the unit in the absence of the Unit Manager.
- Professional Development: Engages in continuous learning, participates in meetings, and enhances professional skills.
- Scope of Practice & Compliance: Adheres to Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital standards, policies, and safety practices.
- Communication: Demonstrates effective communication skills with patients, families, and staff, maintaining patient rights and dignity.
General Standards:
- Adheres to hospital policies, shows teamwork, demonstrates professionalism, maintains a positive image, and respects patient privacy.
Non-Essential Duties:
- Contributes to policy development, participates in hospital committees, supervises students, and adapts to staffing needs.
