The G100 the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Unit focuses on the treatment of complex patients suffering from GI Bleeds, Pancreatitis, Liver Failure, Multi-Organ Failure, Pre-Transplant, Crohn’s Disease, and Gastroparesis. The dedicated caregivers on this unit provide the highest quality, safest care to adult patients. We adhere to a strict patient-to-staff ration never exceeding 6 patients per caregiver. G100 has a positive, team-oriented and supportive culture with daily 7am huddles for both the night shift and day shift to start/end their shift with an optimistic mindset. Experienced caregivers on G100 are eager to educate newer nurses. A caregiver in G100 can expect to gain a strong medical foundation with true medical/surgical nursing. During Rapid Responses on the unit, you will enhance your critical thinking skills, gain ultrasound experience, and collaborate closely with providers on liver cases. G100 is a great unit to pick up knowledge and grow as a nurse.
A PRN RN is required to work 48 hours (4 12-hour shifts) in a 6 week scheduling period.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and their families.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• One-year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
• Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).

Certifications:
• Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN).
• Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) must be presented upon hire.
• If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment.

Work Experience:
• External applicants must have two years recent related nursing experience.
• Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience but post orientation /90 day probationary period could be considered with Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval.
• Successfully pass all prescreen competency assessments required.
• Will consider licensed military RN experience.
Physical Requirements:
• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
