In this role, you’ll be a Technical Writer focused on documenting our database product portfolio, including our Open Source, Commercial, On-Premise, and Cloud-based products. You will test and document SQL and InfluxQL query languages, Query, Write, and Management APIs, as well as visibility and management tools.
You’ll collaborate with our world-class engineers and product team to oversee the prioritization and planning of new or enhanced documentation, and make sure that our documentation accurately represents our product capabilities.
You’ll work with modern documentation tooling as well as internal and user-facing AI tools to ensure that our documentation provides accurate answers to users’ questions.
What you’ll do:
Document new features and capabilities as they are released by the engineering team.
Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other departments to gather information and ensure accuracy in documentation.
Test and validate those features against the documentation you have developed.
Work in a docs-as-code environment to draft, edit, and proofread technical documents and user guides.
Participate in regular planning meetings with the product team.
Optimize documentation for search and AI retrieval.
Configure and use custom GPTs to improve documentation and assist users.
Contribute and review blog posts that highlight new features and capabilities.
Follow established documentation standards and guidelines.
Incorporate the latest best practices and tooling to improve documentation quality and user experience.
What we're looking for:
Currently pursuing, or recently completed, a degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field
Strong written language skills
Experience using git, GitHub, Markdown, and HTML
Basic understanding of HTTP, REST, and how to test and evaluate APIs and other software components
Experience installing, configuring, using, and troubleshooting software and command-line tools
Programming and database querying skills (academic or professional)
Familiarity with and ability to adapt to established technical writing style guides
