Job Summary
Oversee the team, key tools and resources necessary to support a sophisticated and disciplined enterprise strategic planning process; establishing an organizational rhythm, ensuring awareness, alignment and execution necessary for a multi-state, multi-billion dollar health system to achieve it strategic vision and operational goals. This role will be responsible for the maturation of a dynamic planning process, building out market intelligence capabilities, leading annual and long-term initiative planning, aligning resources, timelines and success metrics to achieve the strategic vision. It is imperative that the leader taking on this role have excellent relationship management skills, strong industry knowledge and a proven track record leading planning processes to achieve key goals.
Ensures the organization maintains a future orientation through the planning process, taking into account both external and internal indicators to shape strategic and operational priorities that support the vision and goals. Partner with key system and market executives to continue to development of the dynamic planning process, a rolling forecasting and planning process that integrates strategic and financial planning and offers a more nimble approach to move the organization forward. Leads the dynamic planning process and its strategic components to ensure all business units within the enterprise are aligned in the process and yielding key priorities that help support attainment the organization's strategic vision. Develop scenario planning capabilities that provide proactive insights and responses to leadership on next steps in the event of significant changes or disruptions to SH operations. Maintain strong relationships with planning and marketing functions to ensure plans are translated for patients and customers in ways that supports growth. Maintain a strong relationship with the Enterprise Project Management Office to ensure project management resources are appropriately engaged among strategic priorities.
Think strategically and develop plans to grow and maintain SH's competitive position. Translate strategy into actionable priorities and initiatives that drive the organization forward, keeping the organization's patients, consumers and partners at the center of the planning process. Utilize necessary planning management tool(s) to track progress, identify barriers, and record achievement of milestones. Measures and communicates performance against the strategic plan. Develops dashboards and regular reports to monitor and communicate progress. Communicates with operations and administrative staff in order to share data and consumer expectations (as defined in consumer surveys). Coordinates closely with analysts and recognized industry and partner resources to provide actionable intelligence. Always be evaluating ways to leverage Sanford Health's diverse assets to further enhance programs, services and products for the people we serve. Lead and coordinate the implementation of the Strategic Plan Priorities and initiatives. Ensure resources are appropriately positioned to help execute the most critical priorities. Monitor and produce quarterly progress reports in order to maintain a constant transparency of the strategic plan priority execution.
Ensure Sanford Health has a dedicated strategic intelligence function that can help inform system-wide short and long-term strategy. Routinely be capturing industry mega-trends that have long-term impact, as well as understanding potential immediate disruptions from competitor and policy movements. Ensure the intelligence function is tightly connected to planning and operations with rapid-response capabilities due to changing industry and market dynamics. Partner with market/business unit resources to ensure a consistent approach with gathering, disseminating and using intelligence to drive business decisions at the market/business unit level.
Manages teams supporting Strategic Planning, Business Development and Strategic Intelligence activities aligned with enterprise operations. Strategic Planning teams to included resources embedded within regional and Good Samaritan Society leadership teams providing consistent, transparent communication; greatest alignment during the dynamic planning process and most efficient support for plan execution and initiative development.
Supports the proactive development of concept, proposal, planning and execution phases of strategic initiatives aligned with enterprise strategy. Engages members of the Executive Leadership Team, Health Service Division and Foundation in the design, development and execution of the initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or related field required. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of ten years of applicable experience required.
