ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Abide by all Safety regulations and policies
• Must wear all required PPE for any task/job currently being performed
• Meet all production standards and efficiencies focusing on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost based on current routings/times
• Perform daily housekeeping task. Help maintain 5S standards in your work location and whole department
• Must be willing to work outside of your current Job Classification and Department as qualified and needed
• Must complete First Piece Inspection protocol and related paperwork
• Plan, lay out and perform all bench and machine operations to construct, alter and repair intricately designed and constructed tools, dies, fixtures, gauges, machine attachments and mechanisms
• Work from complicated drawings and specifications and use a wide variety of precision instruments for exact measurements
• Work from drawings, handbooks, catalogs and other informational sources to obtain data necessary for selecting machine components
• Perform set up of new and repaired dies, and for more complex dies requiring development work and skill to set
• Routine upkeep of dies and tools required for production equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair quality and throughput concerns associated with production equipment.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Basic mechanical abilities
• Basic mathematical abilities (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
• Organizational and communication skills including ability to read, write and understand written and verbal instructions.
• Desire to learn new skills and improve knowledge
• Strong orientation toward:
o Safety, quality, and continuous improvement demonstrated by a work history of safe performance, accuracy and attention to detail in the work performed, constructive problem solving and suggestions for improvement, ability to effectively implement or respond to change, punctuality and consistent work attendance
• Understanding and support of Company policies and procedures, including those related to Safety
• At least 3 years previous experience as a manual machinist
• Must be able to read blueprints
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must know principles and have general understanding of common welding practices and equipment.
• Must be able to use various measurement tools not limited to tapes, micrometers, calipers (all types) and protractors.
• Must be able to understand and set up the following equipment: Drill Press, Cut off Saw, Band Saw, Lathe, Grinder, Milling Machine.
• Knowledge of stamping press and spot-welding equipment needed.
• Understand the differences between various common manufacturing materials and have knowledge of the processes available to transform these materials into finished products.
• Ability to identify and solve problems associated with manufacturing processes
• Demonstrated ability to effectively implement or respond to change.
• Able to read, write and understand written and verbal instructions.
- This position does not require an official journeyman or apprentice qualification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
POSITION SUMMARY
As operational needs change, duties and responsibilities of this position will be subject to change and/or develop per management review.
• Will be working in a manufacturing plant with varying climate
• Must be able and willing to work daily and weekly overtime as required
• Able to stand continuously for 8 to 10 hours daily
• Able to lift, push and/or pull up to 33lbs individually and up to 66lbs as a team
• Able to reach overhead
• Able to stoop, kneel, squat
• Able to use hands for fine manipulations
• Able to handle frequent pushing and pulling
