Role Overview
Job Title: Analytics Engineer
Location: Austin, TX or Remote
Department: Data
Reports to: Director of Data Analytics
Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Data Engineer to join our team. As an Analytics Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining our robust BI and reporting infrastructure. You will collaborate with various departments to develop requirements and ensure the flow of information and insight throughout the organization which will enable data-informed decisions and deliver best in class services to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with departments to understand data requirements and objectives.
- Help to define and implement the overall reporting strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and aligning to current OKRs.
- Develop and maintain SQL queries to extract, clean, and manipulate data from various sources.
- Design, publish and maintain Tableau data sources.
- Create insightful visualizations and reports using BigQuery and Tableau.
- Establish and enforce data quality standards and governance policies to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Perform quality assessments to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Use version control platforms such as GitHub to store and maintain code base.
- Clearly communicate findings and insights effectively to executive leadership and stakeholders.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configuration, data models, and processes.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including analysts, and software engineers, to understand data requirements and provide support as necessary.
- Share knowledge and best practices with team members to foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience as a Data Analyst, Analytics Engineer, or similar role.
- 3-5 years of experience working with Tableau in a corporate environment.
Skill:
- Expert with SQL and cloud-based data platforms such as GCP or AWS.
- Knowledge and familiarity with a VCS such as GitHub.
- Familiarity with data governance, data security, and privacy best practices.
- Understanding of data modeling, database design, and query optimization techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to convey technically complex ideas and information to non-technical audiences.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills and the ability to work efficiently with a variety of people and personalities in a cross-functional environment.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Certifications/Licenses:
- Certification in SQL, Tableau, GCP or AWS is a plus.
