The Snr Project Mgr. is a role in the BJ’s Shared Service Business Excellence team, the candidate will be an experienced and driven Senior Project Manager to lead and oversee key projects within our Shared Services organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to drive cross-functional teams toward successful project delivery. You will play a critical role in optimizing processes, enhancing service delivery, and supporting the overall strategic goals of the organization. Applied Retail experience preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Over see the project portfolio and manage the overall portfolio governance. As a program leader you will also be required to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives (HLOs) and timelines.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, including senior management, to gather requirements, manage expectations, and provide regular updates on project progress.
- Team Management: Direct cross-functional project teams, fostering collaboration and accountability among team members.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and issues, developing mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Process Improvement: Analyze current processes and identify opportunities for optimization, recommending solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Budget Oversight: Manage project budgets, ensuring financial targets are met while delivering quality outcomes. Own the development of project business case.
- Reporting: Prepare and present project status reports, performance metrics, and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior project managers and team members, promoting best practices in project management.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
- Outstanding communication, consultative, and interpersonal skills: The ideal candidate will influence key executive stakeholders both within BJ’s at all levels of the organization. Superior executive presence is required for meetings with senior executives, handling conflict situations, influencing others to their strategy and way of thinking, and to provide inspirational leadership for other project mgmt. resources across BJ’s.
- Superior problem-solving/solution architect and business acumen skills: Must have outstanding ability to diagnose problems which could relate to process, policy, technology, strategy, or people and to put in place actions/measures to address. Candidate with functional knowledge of key end-to-end business processes preferred (Order to Cash, Source to Pay, Hire to Retire, Record to Report)
- Financial management: Must have proven ability to develop and oversee the development of solid business cases to demonstrate the value proposition to move forward with project investment. Additionally, must have proven ability to manage and oversee and report on project actual spend against budget.
- Shared Services/Global Business Services experience: The ideal candidate has experience operating within a shared services delivery operation. The resource should have a deep understanding of Shared services/global business services operating models and demonstrate thought Leadership in related concepts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification.
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in project management, preferably within the retail or shared services sector.
- Strong understanding of retail operations and shared services functions.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e. g., MS Project, JIRA, Asana) and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Visionary and strategic thinker: Must be able to develop multi-year future vision and strategy of where to focus and lead teams to deliver business objectives. Proven entrepreneurial ability to operate from ambiguity and to create and drive structure and clarity.

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $122,500.00.
