POSITION SUMMARY Assist the Endoscopy staff with patient care in a timely and accurate manner.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Formal Education / Training:
High School Graduate.
Medical terminology course or 1 year experience in the health field.

Equipment and Skills Training:
The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently. Standard patient care equipment for services provided. Network computer system, Meditech Order Entry Computer System; Endoscopy sterile processing equipment.
Physical Environment:
An Endoscopy Unit with patient population ranging from less than one year of age> ninety-nine plus years of age.
Physical Effort:
- Able to communicate in English verbally and legibly.
- Able to stand/work for up to twelve hours a day.
- Able to lift and turn patients with assistance up to 250 lbs.
- Able to transport patient on stretcher or bed as necessary.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS - Anticipates and provides equipment and supplies in a timely manner based on the needs of the patient and physician.
- Assists with the patient's care, reports problems/needs, and performs interventions consistent with identified problems as directed by the nurse
- Provides emotional and psychosocial support for patient.
- Sterilizes and cleans supplies/equipment according to established standards, policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with appropriate health care team members to help coordinate the delivery of patient care in a timely manner.
- Handles/ transports medications/ solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Participates with other healthcare team to coordinate compliance with JC standards.
- Participates in departmental process improvement activities.
- Facilitates staff development, assists with the orientation and training of new personnel and participates in the development of educational programs for co-workers.
- Demonstrates responsibility for assigned communications and monthly assignments.
- Assist in other Perioperative areas as needed when endoscopy cases are completed.
- Maintains their work areas and personal appearance in a way that reflects our professionalism and demonstrates to our patients, visitors, and coworkers the importance we place on cleanliness, orderliness, and safety.
