DescriptionCMA:
• Experience in a medical office setting.
• Must understand, courteous and professional at all times in contacts with patients, visitors, employees, and medical staff.
• Assist Doctor with patients.
• Demonstrate knowledge in a medical office.
• Anticipate doctor’s needs for each patient based upon patient complaints and treatment plan/guidelines.
• Verify that patient results, x-rays, labs and procedure reports are in patient charts prior to seeing doctor.
• Gather patient’s vitals and complaints, document in patient medical record.
• Chart accurately and legibly to include lab results.
• Facilitate physician and patient communications.
• Complete lab requisition forms and assure that specimens are sent to correct labs per patient insurance contract.
• Maintain and monitor exam room and procedure room supplies and instruments.
• Clean and sterilize instruments in accordance to OSHA Regulations. Clean autoclave as required.
• Complete clinical portions of chart preparation.
• Schedule surgery and give patient appropriate instructions prior to surgery and refer to Front Office Coordinator or Office Manager for insurance authorization.
• Provide backup surgery scheduling.
LPN:
- Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patients age.
- Demonstrates ability under direct supervision of an RN, to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes pediatric, geriatric and general patient population.
- Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
- Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and patient’s clinical condition.
- Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
- Demonstrates ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
- Formulates a teaching plan based on identified patient learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching as appropriate.
- Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills under the direction of an RN.
- Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families
- Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
RN:
- Promotes positive public relations for the department and the hospital by presenting self in a professional manner; assisting in community service programs, as requested.
- Ability to problem solve patient/family issues to a positive conclusion for all involved.
- Demonstrates communication skills necessary to interact with persons of varying age and/or cultures. Displays a positive attitude at all times.
- Develops and maintains good relationships with co-workers, other department staff and physicians No disruptions.
- Practices 5 rights of medication administration.
- Demonstrates efficient time management skills to maximize productivity.
- Demonstrates and encourages teamwork.
- Asks for assistance and information from others when necessary.
