Production Planner to work at a premier manufacturing company in Rochester, NY. This is a temp-hire position working onsite with a leading company. What’s a typical day as a Production Planner? You’ll be:
• Providing Sales Customer Service with firm delivery dates from the production schedule.
• Monitoring the scheduled start and progress of all jobs using the ERP system.
• Monitoring the flow of blanket orders and stock jobs through the shop.
• Updating the schedule to reflect possible re-routing or change in flow.
• Expediting orders as needed to meet customer deliveries.
• Working with the purchasing department to ensure expected dates for incoming goods align with the production schedule.
• Reviewing outsourced operations within jobs and ensuring PO timing aligns with successful project delivery.
• Serving as a liaison between sales demand and operational capacity.
• Planning larger projects and blanket orders to achieve increased efficiency and lower costs.
• Determining when/if overtime is needed to recover or maintain production workload.
• Monitoring scheduled start and end dates of all jobs and providing weekly status updates.
• Reviewing quotes for incoming jobs and checking for alignment on lead times.
• Recommending outsourcing jobs as needed to optimize shop floor activities and overall company output.
• Using the ERP system to retrieve customer information, stock status information, and the status of purchase orders.
• Performing cycle counts of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods as needed.
• Assisting in annual physical inventory.
• Completing special projects as requested.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
• Have a Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
• Have 1-5 years of experience in production scheduling, planning, or a related role in a manufacturing environment.
• Have basic arithmetic skills and attention to detail.
• Have the ability to use Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point.
• Have solid knowledge of the manufacturing process.
• Are familiar with MRP or ERP Order Entry, Shipping, Purchasing, and Receiving.
• Have good communication skills.
• Are a good team player.
