PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Directly responsible for the safe and efficient execution of activities within the Reactor Services department of the Outage Planning and Services Organization as directed by Supervision. This includes reactor disassembly, maintenance, reassembly, fuel handling, spent fuel work, dry fuel storage, and maintaining support equipment in a safe and reliable condition. Activities are performed in accordance with the human performance fundamentals and written instructions, including but not limited to approved work packages and procedures. The RST supports a culture of continuous improvement by participating in training, reinforcing standards, reporting and mitigating unsafe or undesirable conditions, and utilizing the corrective action program.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Perform all assigned work safely and efficiently in accordance with approved procedures, NRC regulations and the site schedule. This may include at certain sites, inspection, maintenance and operation of equipment used to service the reactor vessel and to perform various activities in the reactor core and spent fuel pool. Duties at certain sites may include fuel handling functions such as unloading and reloading of the reactor cores, handling new fuel, fuel channeling, fuel sipping, and dry fuel storage. Also perform inspections and maintenance of reactor internals and other in-vessel services, fuel pool cleanout activities, and refueling floor and fuel building operations.
- Participate in Pre-Job briefings and support an environment of strong safety and human performance behaviors by all individuals on the team by maintaining, observing, and reinforcing standards discussed in the briefings. Participate in training to acquire additional skill sets related to the Reactor Services technician responsibilities. Foster a learning atmosphere and provide feedback improvement suggestions to supervision.
- Review work packages and walk-down clearances in accordance with approved procedures. Document all work performed in work packages and procedures, and participate in corrective action activities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure effective communication of significant plant and personnel issues to appropriate levels of Reactor Services Management. Foster open communications and collaboration between all organizations internal and external to OP&S, including site management, INPO and regulatory agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma AND 2 years Reactor Services or related power plant experience. OR
- Associate Degree or Equivalent in an Engineering Technology.
- Demonstrated competence, knowledge and understanding of the basic principles in the Reactor Services field.
- 5 or more years of previous experience in Outage Services Refueling activities.
- Ability to maintain unescorted access to nuclear facilities.
- Electrical Background prefferred.
- Willing to attend electrical training courses and obtain required electrical certificates.
