Lutheran Hospital’s 5D Unit cares for a variety of post-operative patients in the areas of orthopaedics, spine, neurology and bariatrics. Some procedures patients have undergone include total joint replacements, lumbar and/or cervical decompressions, fusions, and laminectomies. This unit also treats general med/surg patients and is capable of telemetry and ongoing cardiac monitoring. The exceptional care from the nursing team on this unit has led to a reputation for quick patient turnover and excellent patient education. This is an excellent opportunity for an RN to join a team that is active in shared governance, is involved in community outreach, and has created a highly engaged work environment.
A caregiver in this position works a day/evening rotation of 7:00am – 7:30pm or 11:00am – 11:30pm.

Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
