In accordance with professional Advance Practice Nurse standards and physician collaboration, coordinates care of the adult medical patient, develops treatment plans, provides treatment as indicated, and monitors clinical activities. Uses evidence-based guidelines for care. Utilizes effective communication methods to ensure interdisciplinary collaboration and patient support/advocacy. Maintains a culturally sensitive and customer focused manner to promote patient satisfaction.
The Nurse Practitioner - UroGyn Surgery will:
Saint Peter's University Hospital is seeking a full-time Outpatient- Advanced Nurse Practitioner for its GYN Surgery and Urogynecology practice.
The Advanced Practice Nurse will be an integral part of the health care team, working with physicians, nurses and nursing or medical assistants to provide comprehensive high-quality ambulatory care, as appropriate to the ages of the patient's growth and development through the life cycle factors.
Provide direct patient care, within the limits prescribed by training, and in consultation with a supervising physician
• Manage basic preoperative issues such as wound assessment, medications, and pain control
• Assist with evaluating and managing post-op patients
• Assist with patient flow by seeing patients as requested by the attending physician
Assist with patient follow-up
• Review routine laboratory reports for abnormalities, notify responsible clinician according to degree of urgency
• When appropriate, prescribe medication as needed
Document all aspects of patient care promptly
• Complete in accordance with practice guidelines, within 24 hours of patient care.
• Handle disability paperwork.
Demonstrate competency in knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to provide care to specific age-related populations
• Maintain CPR review certification on an annual basis as evidenced by a valid card.
• Attend all mandatory in-service updates as required
• Attend at least the minimum required continuing education programs per year, needed for maintenance of certification and licensure

Requirements:
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of New Jersey
• Current Advance Practice Nursing licensure in the State of New Jersey
• Current CDS and DEA required
• Master's degree in nursing required
• Two (2) years' experience in specialty strongly preferred
• Certified as a nurse practitioner in the State of New Jersey within area of specialty
• BLS certification, as approved by the American Heart Association
Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 5 - 8hour shifts, 8 am or 8:30 am, Practicing at 2 locations - Somerset and New Brunswick
