About the Role:
The Legal Counsel will review, draft, interpret and negotiate construction contracts with clients, partners, subcontractors and vendors in connection with senior legal staff and operations management. Typical contracts include but are not limited to EPC agreements, construction contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, joint venture agreements, consortium agreements, major equipment contracts, memoranda of understanding, and nondisclosure agreements.
The Legal Counsel will provide guidance and hands-on support to managers and project managers on change management, risk, protect rights and entitlements for relief, prepare correspondence, maintain records necessary to ensure effective dispute resolution, and other project matters.
The Legal Counsel will be interested in professional development and have opportunities to work on a variety of legal matters as they progress including Civil Litigation, Labor & Employment, Public Company Governance, Securities & Exchange, Risk Management and Personal Injury matters.
This position will be located at our Thornton, Colorado office. We offer a hybrid schedule with 2 days of work from home and 3 days in the office per week.

Essential Functions
- Provide legal advice and support in all aspects of construction law.
- Review, draft, and negotiate construction contracts.
- Provide legal support and draft certain documentation for disputes involving construction projects.
- Ensure proper organization and timely completion of relevant project documents.
- Respond promptly and accurately to internal and external inquiries.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards, if applicable.
About You:
Qualifications
- 1-3+ years of construction law experience.
- Law degree required. Licensed to practice law in at least 1 United States, state jurisdiction.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to work within a team environment with a collaborative approach with a business-minded focus to support our operations.
- Knowledge of construction and contract law including contract methods and key risk-shifting provisions, negotiation skills, and strategic thinking.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate and interact effectively at all levels and across all functions within the company, and the ability to convey complex contract and legal concepts clearly and succinctly.
- Commercially savvy and strong business acumen in order to provide practical solutions to the business to enable the company to achieve its financial goals.
- Ability to meet required deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an attention to detail and ability to work independently among changing priorities.
- Superior organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
What We Offer:
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary $90,000-$120,000/ year
- Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
