Must have at least 2 years of recent acute care experience. BLS must be American Heart Association. MD license required by time of start. Patient load is typically 9 to 10 per day, all inpatient. Will do all charting/documentation in McKesson, HEC system, so must be familiar with computerized documentation. Dress code is kaki' scrub bottoms with red scrub tops. Day hours with 3 weekends during the 13 week contract.
Job Summary:
The Occupational Therapist is a licensed professional who is responsible for performing Occupational Therapy services for inpatients and/or outpatients. The Occupational Therapist is involved in assisting the Supervisor in compiling reports, data, etc. The therapist is responsible for the evaluation, assessment, treatment planning, splinting, patient and community relations, education, implementation and delivery of occupational therapy services to ensure positive patient outcomes.

Additional Information
1. Special procedures and requirements.
Med surg, decondition (surgical pats), ICU/MCICU (open heart) patients. Assist with large population of ortho patients. Assist with patients in the joint camp also. Responsible for 8 to 12 patients a day - 24 units done daily, average unit = 15 minutes.
2. Type of equipment.
Computerized documentation, will train on. (McKesson, HEC system).
3 Licensure and Certification requirements.
Maryland State licensure. CPR certification.
4. Call, special schedule or floating requirements. The Gym is open from 7a to 4:30 p. Shifts entail 6 hrs of direct patient care, and 2 hrs to do documentation, follow up with physicians, and nursing staff.
5. Information about the department.
At least 2 Therapists scheduled each shift, with possible extra PTA. Everyone works in the Gym area. It is set up in units, and everyone works there and helps out with going to the ICU/MCICU and the Joint Camp to assist specific patients in those areas. Always have at least 2 PTs and 1 OT on at all times.
TCU (Transitional Care Unit) has 30 beds with average length of stay of 11 days. It has its own gym area, but all therapists will help out in this area as well.
