Job SummaryPosition is responsible for overseeing the planning and implementation of nutrition care for Pediatrics/NICU, HVI, and Hospital-Based Clinic patients as well as supervising designated personnel.
Job DescriptionMinimum Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's in Science in Dietetics/Human Nutrition and Foods or related field. Master's degree preferred or commensurate experience.
Licenses/Certifications: - Current Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and Texas licensure.
- Prefer specialized certification: Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or certification in such areas as in renal, pediatric, sports dietetics, gerontological and/or oncology nutrition.
- Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; and
- BLS or Heart Saver certification.
Experience/ Knowledge/ Skills: - Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in clinical nutrition in an acute care setting.
- Two (2) years of progressive leadership experience.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills to weigh multiple factors when dealing with patient, families, staff, physicians and other health care providers.
- Ability to professionally and effectively interact with medical staff, other managers, administration, and staff to resolve problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to interact with patients, families and staff.
- Possess the ability to creatively problem solve, work independently with minimal supervision and make decisions while working within a self-directed and team-oriented work environment
- Completion of management/leadership training programs as designated by the institution within first year of employment. Ongoing management/leadership training programs as designated by organization's leadership.

Principle Accountabilities:- Evaluates current research/evidence to implement best practice standards.
- Develops and implements effective operational plans and short term strategies to address key issues and achieve long term goals and objectives.
- Utilizes emerging technology and decision support tools to improve clinical outcomes, operational performance, and refine practices.
- Effectively communicates both interpersonally and in formal presentations.
- Provides an environment which fosters employee retention, engagement, and progressive professional development.
- Conducts quality assurance clinical audits, competency assessments and performance evaluations in order to ensure the Standards of Practice and Standards of Professional Performance for Registered Dietitians is adhered to. If a staff clinician does not adhere to established performance standards, the corrective action process is implemented and escalated if needed with guidance from the human resources department.
- Ensures fiscal responsibility by developing budgets that monitor expenditures and adhere to sound business practices.
- Manages, supervises, trains, and mentors department personnel.
- Provides nutrition education and expertise to physicians, patients, families and staff.
- Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in Nutrition in order to enhance professional expertise by attending professional meetings, reading appropriate journals, and participating in professional organizations.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and regulatory standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
