Epic Travel Staffing is hiring a Travel RN - PCU - Float Pool 48's
Shift: Nights, 7p-7a, 12x4, 48hrs per week, EOW, EOH, No on call
Length: 13 weeks
Requirements:
- SD License
- 1.5 years general nursing experience
- Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing
- BSN required
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Other Details:
- Will you accept a first-time traveler? Only if previous float pool experience and 2+ years experience, otherwise travel experience required
- Travelers must live >100 miles away from any Monument Health facility
- MUST BE PCU LEVEL RN, willing to float to MedSurg/Tele
- This is a float pool position floating routinely between: Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Medical, Progressive Care Unit, Oncology, and Heart and Vascular – all units are mixed acuity and will have Intermediate to MedSurg level patient types
- Could be floated within scope of practice and below
- If traveler is competent to float to other areas, such as ICU, that skillset may be utilized
Beds: Dependent on unit, 270 for hospital – FLOAT POOL POSITION
Patient Types:
Please ensure traveler understands – this is a float pool position – floating throughout various units within Rapid City location – within or below scope of practice (to include MedSurg)
If traveler has experience outside of this Intermediate Care – please include this is your offer details, for example:
ICU RN qualified to float to ED
PCU RN qualified to float to ICU
Common Diagnoses include but are not limited to:
Orthopedics
Neuro (Stroke, Transient Ischemic Attack, etc.)
Surgical
Medical (Urinary Tract Infection, Pneumonia, Failure to Thrive, etc.)
Intermediate Care (Sepsis, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, End-stage Renal, Alcohol Withdrawal, etc.)
Oncology
Heart and Vascular (Chest Pain, Heart Failure, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, etc.)
RN: 1:4-5
Skills required:
PCU level RN – willing to float to Med/Tele – this is a float pool position throughout scope of practice
Must have experience with titration of all drips below – please ask manager approval prior to offer if traveler is not completely comfortable
Common titratable drips:
Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levo, Dopamine, Insulin
Cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV starts, Blood product administration, CIWA, drain/tube management, indwelling and straight catheter insertion/management, continuous bladder irrigation, chest tube maintenance
Experience with Cardiac procedural recovery (CABG/TAVR/post Cardiac Cath), MI pharmacology, Heparin gtts
Support on the Unit:
CNA: Present on all units, ratio varies
Charge nurse: Dedicated to each unit and one for the Float Pool itself – typically free floating
Phlebotomy: 24/7
IV/VAT Team: No
Resource Nurse: Varies
RT: 24/7
Hospitalist: 24/7
Charting System/Equipment:
Epic – if not experienced, please seek manager approval to offer

Pay rate is estimated based on weekly gross income.
Weekly gross pay based on qualifications and experience. Rate applies to travel positions only (50+ miles from permanent address).
