The Lead Software Engineer reports directly to the Senior Manager of Engineering. As a Lead Software Engineer, you would be responsible for directing a team of engineers of all experience levels in the design, development, coding, testing, and debugging of applications. This is also a hands-on role where you will also be expected to write code, troubleshoot issues, and debug software. Lead Software Engineers will assist in configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning and production monitoring. Responsibilities include working closely with the product management team to ensure we deliver the best user experiences. As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be a core player and expected to build and grow the skillsets of the more junior Engineers.

Your Responsibilities on the Team
Collaborate with project stakeholders (product owners, UX researchers, data team, QA team, project managers, enterprise architecture, security, cross team leads and designers) to understand functional and non-functional requirements.
Promote a collaborative team environment and work closely with colleagues to achieve business objectives.
Responsible for planning work estimation and forecasting.
Adhere to architecture, design, implementation, security standards and best practices.
Investigate and propose solutions to development and design problems.
Conduct analysis to determine integration needs, and design and plan integrations.
Prepare technical documentation, including software design evaluation plans and test results.
Write high-quality code that satisfies customer needs and strives for simplicity, clarity, and testability.
Implement unit and integration tests and conduct functional and performance testing where appropriate.
Participate in code reviews or use collaborative programming techniques to promote high quality business outcomes.
Develop reusable software building blocks to enable faster delivery.
Improve performance of existing software by diagnosing and resolving critical issues.
Establish best development practices and processes.
Manage and mentor software engineers.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years in software development experience is required.
Proven track record for managing a team of developers to achieve company goals.
Proven track record for architecting, scaling and implementing complex technical solutions.
Proven track record of leadership in Agile environments, with excellent communication and collaboration skills, and a passion for mentoring and empowering team members.
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information in a condensed manner to various stakeholders verbally and in writing.
Strong expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript (7+ years) with deep understanding of advanced principles of client-side and server-side development.
High proficiency in React.js (5+ years), with a solid background in building performant UI components with modern hooks and design patterns.
Proficiency in Next.js, TypeScript, and Cosmos DB, demonstrating the ability to architect and implement robust performance-optimized solutions.
Knowledge in building and tooling processes such as CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and package managers, coupled with extensive experience in debugging and troubleshooting complex issues.
Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles.
Experience developing cloud-native applications in Azure or AWS.
Experience in Agile methodologies.

Physical & Office/Site Presence Requirements:
This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the Lead Software Engineer to have the ability to operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and carry up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is necessary.
