The newly created Cardiac Perioperative NP team is expanding and adding additional NPs to our team.
The Nurse Practitioner in Cardiac Perioperative Anesthesia will be responsible for: - Collaborating with the perioperative and anesthesia teams to provide comprehensive care to patients preop/intraop/postoperatively in the OR and other anesthetizing locations.
- Conducting patient/family interviews and documenting patient medical history, review of systems, physical exam in the preanesthetic evaluation.
- Communicating the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of anesthesia to patients and families
- Offering expertise as consultant and educator to peri-operative nursing staff
- Participating in or leading the collection of data for anesthesia cancelations, criteria changes, and improvement processes
- Ordering, scheduling, and/or performing laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures such as urinalyses, pregnancy, blood tests, and x-rays
- Functions as a liaison between the anesthesia attending in charge, primary anesthesia, nursing team, and family to optimize patient care
- Prescribing and administering premedication prior to anesthesia
- Assisting the anesthesia team in procedural areas
- 20hrs - 10hr shifts
To qualify, you must have: - A Master of Science in Nursing and certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner
- MA licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse
- 5 years of nursing experience in pediatrics (inpatient or outpatient) is preferred
