Weld System Project Engineer
Job Summary
Fori Automation is seeking a Welding Process Engineer. The candidate will work out of our Shelby Twp., Michigan facility and report to the Weld Systems Engineering Manager.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Support the engineering team with required process activities throughout the design and build.
• Comprehension of mechanical and control prints.
• Assembly processing capabilities (including layouts and cycle time analysis).
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Develop innovative detailed assembly process solutions, document the process with detailed cycle time charts and provide layouts to match the process.
• Create standards and tools for department.
• Must be capable of processing welding lines (resistance, MIG, projection, drawn arc and mechanical fastening).
• Must be familiar with weld gun selection, specifying weld gun electrode design and spot distribution.
• Use videos to validate, create, modify, and improve process times.
• Provides technical assistance to Mechanical Engineering Department Project Engineers.
• Product and GD&T control (including station assemblies).
• Analyze and validate machine ergonomics.
• Develop and maintain formal cycle time charts.
• Maintain existing process documents.
• Follow up on floor during machine builds & buyoff to evaluate cycle times.
• Utilization of INVENTOR or ACAD for development of tooling concepts and layout drawings.
• Review and respond to customer inquiries and engineering changes.
• Ability to multitask between multiple projects, meetings, and daily priorities within the group
• Willingness to work in the office and occasionally at a customer plant.
• Line up the simulation group at the start of the program and follow thru to completion.
• Follow up on floor during machine builds and buyoff to evaluate cycle times.
Education and Experience
• Engineering degree
• 3 years background in Technical, Proposal & Estimating; as well as Engineering and Weld System Design.
• Travel, approximately ~3%, weekend and holiday hours may be required based on level of project urgency.
• Know-how in Mechanical and Controls. Demonstrate Engineering, Estimating and Conceptual Designs.
• Working level and competent in Inventor and/or 3D ACAD.
