The Clerical Supervisor accurately and promptly collects all pertinent information at the initial point of registration to ensure the proper billing process occurs which will enhance timely cash flow and reduce the days in accounts receivable.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
- Supervisory experience is preferred
- Medical insurance verification and authorization experience preferred
- Patient Access experience preferred
- Knowledge in all aspects of registration, Non-Federal and Federal billing regulations, and state programs such as Charity Care
- Medical terminology and computer skills

Scheduling Requirements:
- Evening Shift, following a period of orientation and training on days
- Includes every other weekend, as well as a holiday rotation
- Full Time, 40 hours per week
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for coordinating and facilitating registration and admissions by obtaining pertinent demographic information, collecting accurate insurance information and performing inpatient authorizations in order to financially clear inpatient hospital accounts
- The ideal candidate must be detail oriented and promote patient satisfaction
- Service orientated background, good written and verbal communication skills and accurate typing ability
- Demonstrates initiative and motivation in role; proactively identifies and resolves problems in an appropriate manner and escalates issues to leadership when necessary
- Reflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitude
- Works closely and professionally with nursing and ancillary departments to foster a team environment
- Participate in training through the development of training tools, presentations at department in-services or staff meetings, or through the training of registration staff outside the patient access department
- Support ensuring core staffing of the Patient Access Representatives as well as working supervisor on floor supporting peak volumes
- Ensures patient satisfaction, patient throughput, Emergency Department scheduling and scheduling needs
- Daily monitoring of KPI metrics, and POS collections
- Helps with the education of new hires
- Monitors employee files
