Job Purpose
Entry level shaft design engineer is responsible for designing drive shaft parts and systems that meet the targeted schedule and deliver outstanding performance, quality, reliability, value, and enjoyment to Honda’s customers.
Key Accountabilities
- Achieve Performance, Quality, Cost and Delivery Targets by carrying out the following duties under the guidance of more senior engineers :
- Thinking critically & applying fundamental engineering principles to complex targets.
- Plan & coordinate activities with other design, test, factory, purchasing and suppliers.
- Create own schedules with milestones and trigger points, and share with related groups
- Attend meetings, lead occasionally, and give constructive thoughts along with keeping track of open items
- Review costs to ensure it meets the design intentions and provide solutions if it does not.
- Model parts and systems in 3D and release 2D drawings and specifications using CATIA & MS office
- Proactively share development progress with your function members and Chief to confirm proper direction, successful completion or raise awareness of concerns.
- Complete all required training and share best practices with your peers.
- Create Value & Innovation through studying technical trends and new technology, consider more efficient processes to support your work, make proposals that create new value for your department, Honda or our customers and confirm application of development strategies for your area of responsibility.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering
- Co-op Experience
- CAD software (CATIA V5/V6) or closely related, Microsoft Office
Working Conditions
- Physical requirements: sitting, standing, walking, driving.
- Ability to lift components <40 lb. may be required.
- Ability to travel may be required, <5%.
- Ability to work overtime may be required.
