POSITION SUMMARY To provide high quality ultrasound procedures to our patients and physicians in a respectful and efficient manner while providing those services in a safe and clean environment. Perform diagnostic sonography to include breast ultrasound and breast biopsy in a multi -modality setting.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Formal Education / Training:
Earned an Ultrasound diploma or degree from a college or university. May be registered in OB/GYN, abdomen, breast, and vascular as well as ARRT registered or registry eligible. Additional registry by the ARRT preferred for additional modality.
BLS required within in 90 days of hire.
Workplace Experience:
Preference of at least one year of work experience after graduation and accreditation.
Equipment and Skills Training:
Will train on specific equipment and processes utilized at Williamson Health.
Physical Environment:
Multi-modality imaging department that provides general Sonography, OB/GYN, Abdominal, Breast, Vascular and Pelvic ultrasound studies as well as US Guided breast biopsy.
Physical Effort:
Sonographers must possess the ability to perform multifunctional tasks to include physical manipulation and operation of equipment, assist in the movement of patients from wheelchairs to stretchers; bend, twist, stoop; lift 20 pounds; communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing; make appropriate judgment decisions in urgent or emergency situations; and demonstrate emotional stability and psychological health in day to day interaction with fellow employees, patients, their families, and physicians.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS - Checks patient identification and physician order to ensure accuracy of request before proceeding with study.
- Communicates potential or existing problems/opportunities to improve quality of care or services.
- Working environment is clean, organized, well stocked, and free of clutter.
- Attendance-Performs within Williamson Health attendance guidelines. Minimizes unscheduled absences and gives proper notice for scheduled PTO.
- Seeks opportunities to assist in other areas during down time, making good use of time.
- Implements new departmental procedures readily and without delay.
- Volunteers for overtime and fill-in when needed. Willingness to alter schedules.
- Efficiency- Consistently performs an adequate procedure volume in comparison to peers. (Work-load distribution)
- Performs high quality studies consistently and follows Pre-determined standards and procedures for all ultrasound studies.
- Teamwork: Communicates and follows through with fellow employees to ensure that all requests from physicians and patients are completed and offers assistance when needed.
- Explains procedure to patient prior to performing the exam to allow opportunities for questions/concerns.
- Utilizes knowledge of anatomy and disease processes to accurately communicate patient pathology to Radiologists and does so in a professional manner
