The ENDO/GI Center at Somerville Hospital helps patients with a variety of digestive disorders. It includes a state-of-the-art endoscopy suite with four procedure rooms. Some of the procedures we perform include the following: Colonoscopy, Upper Endoscopy, ERCP, 24 hour PH Monitoring, Capsule Endoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and Esophageal Motility.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
The main purpose of the Endoscopy Technician is to provide quality patient care according to Cambridge Health Alliance and the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates standards of nursing practice and the Endoscopy Technician role expectations. The role of the Endoscopy Technician is to assist the gastroenterologist and Endo/GI nurse through preparation and assistance with GI procedures. Clinical leadership at Cambridge Health Alliance is manifested by personal commitment, accountability, and initiative in clinical practice. Patients are our priority. The Endoscopy Technician assists patients to reach their health care goals.
Job functions include but are not limited to: Daily testing of glucometer Set-up of procedure rooms with appropriate equipment and supplies Enters procedural data into ProVation Adheres to high level disinfecting standards for reprocessing endoscopes Follows manufacturer's guidelines when using Automated Endoscope Re-processor. Assists provider with endoscopy procedures Stocks rooms Performs unit specific quality testing 18. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Ability to manage high volumes of patients in a short span of time, while dealing with unpredictable issues. Personal flexibility to perform in an ever-changing work environment with frequent interruptions.
Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities while under pressure.
Ability to communicate and interact effectively with patients, coworkers other practice customers. Fast paced multilingual setting with rapid patient turnover. High patient traffic.
Education/Training: High School Diploma require or equivalent required. Associates degree in Health Care preferred
Certifications: American Heart Association BLS certificate required
Completion of Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) Program within six months for current or new hires
Work Experience: Minimum 1 year current GI, surgical technician, and/or Endo care experience preferred.
Works variable start times and shift lengths. On-call required.
