Job Summary and Responsibilities:
As a Registered Nurse (RN) with our General Surgical inpatient team, you will be at the forefront of providing high-quality care to patients with general medical surgical and oncology conditions. Your expertise and empathy will play a crucial role in their recovery and overall health.
Required Qualifications:
- Require graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program. For new hires after 2012, Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) required within five (5) years of hire date.
- Requires basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
- Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS) certified through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- State of FL RN Licensure
Preferred License and Certs
- BSN: Bachelor of Science Nursing
- ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Prefer certification in nursing specialty area

Sarasota Memorial – Venice Campus
A full-service, acute care hospital, SMH-Venice was built to serve the growing south Sarasota County area and enhance healthcare across the region. SMH-Venice offers a full slate of medical and surgical care from cardiology, orthopedics and intensive care to surgery and comprehensive labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum care.
Seamlessly integrated with the resources, expertise and support of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, SMH-Venice delivers south county residents more convenient access to the top-ranked care and surgical treatment Sarasota Memorial is known for.
Ready to Grow with the Community
Plenty of space on campus means plenty of room to expand to meet the growing needs of the community for years to come. With the opening of the 4th & 5th floors of a third patient care tower in April 2024, 68 private patient suites were added to ease capacity constraints and decrease the need to transfer and admit patient to the SMH-Sarasota Campus. The second floor of the tower with an additional 34 private suites is planned to open by the end of 2024. The ground level includes space for additional patient care and support services in the future, while the third level is interstitial space for mechanical systems.
Construction is also well under way on a 30,000-square-foot expansion of SMH-Venice's Emergency Center. When complete at the end of 2024, the ER will more then double in size from 28 rooms to 61, and include enhancements to registration and support areas and increased imaging capabilities.
