Purpose of the Position: The job of the School Psychologist is done for the purpose/s of measuring and interpreting the intellectual, adaptive, academic, social and emotional development of children; interpreting results of psychological studies; interpreting and applying state and federal codes; and developing strategies and interventions to address the special education needs of eligible students.

Overtime Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $82,000- $86,000
Position Responsibilities and Duties: - Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and appropriate agencies in the planning of educational and therapeutic programs; agency personnel may include private physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, probation officers, mental health professionals, and others as appropriate.
- Recommend appropriate educational and psychological remediation through the use of psychological tests.
- Interpret and analyze the assessment results with regard to the intellectual, academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of pupils, and the implications of results for the instructional program.
- Prepare written assessment reports for each student evaluated.
- Participate in IEP teams and in IEP reviews.
- Conduct required re-evaluations on Special Education students.
- Participate in the development of school services promoting positive mental health and effective environments for learning.
- Initiate referrals to Mental Health Services when needed.
- Assist in the evaluation of the effectiveness of specific phases of educational programs.
- Serve as a resource person in such areas as guidance, curriculum, child development, and tests and measurements.
- Collaboration in master schedule planning for the special education program
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned
Minimum Skills or Qualifications - Bachelors Degree in related field
- Masters degree
- Arizona Credential authorizing the performance of psychological services
- Administrative Services Credential (Preferred)
- ADE School Psychologist Certification
- Graduate degree from NASP-Approved School
- Valid IVP Fingerprint Card
Work Environment and Physical Demands: - Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes
- Requires frequent reaching, handling, sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, running, carrying, and lifting 50 or more lbs.
- Must be able to see and hear within normal range with or without correction.
