DescriptionSummary:
The Acute Trauma Medical Surgical unit is a 40-bed mixed unit on the 5th floor. This unit cares for the medical monitored patients as well as traumatic injuries transferred from the ICU and Emergency Department.Β It also specializes in post-operative care of patients with acute and chronic gastrointestinal and urologic procedures. The unit is known for being "The Center of Excellence" for the care of bariatric surgery patients. For the 40-bed unit, there is usually 3-4 PCTs scheduled each shift for nursing support. There is a Mobility Technician from the Physical Therapy Department that is assigned to the Acute Trauma Medical Surgical unit to assist patients with becoming mobilized. The unit also has a certified wound care nurse who makes rounds on every patient weekly to ensure wound care is covered.Β
The Licensed Vocational Nurse assists the Registered Nurse in the delivery of patient care. Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the LVN is responsible for administering direct patient care, treatments as ordered by the physician and administering medications as outlined by hospital policy and procedure.Β
Requirements:
A. Education/Skills
Graduate of a State Board Vocational School of Nursing or equivalent
B. Experience
Six (6) months acute hospital experience preferred.
C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
Β· Current LVN license with ability to practice in the State of Texas.
Β· AHA BLS β within two (2) weeks of employment
