HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT:We have a Senior Planner opportunity on our Carter’s Wholesale team supporting the Target account. This role is responsible for developing, executing, and communicating strategic plans that will drive growth for our business along with financial accountability for the brands. This role plays an integral part in the collaboration and relationship between internal and external customers. The ideal candidate is someone who has a can-do, analytical mindset with experience in retail or wholesale environments and can communicate effectively with Senior management.
70%: Developing Plans and Analyzing the Business
- Develop, execute, and communicate strategic merchandise and financial plans that support the merchandising, marketing, and financial objectives for assigned accounts.
- Develop retail ladder plans; analyze current and historical trends against LY. Develop and communicate long range plans internally to Leadership and Senior levels at the account.
- Analyze historical data and current trends to identify risks and opportunities by department and classification. Communicate risk and propose corrective action.
- Complete various support requests from senior leadership and sales leaders which often have short deliverable time-frames.
- Responsible for Top to Top, MBR, and earnings prep for account.
- Business case analysis/ P&L implications
- Manage relationship with account (Buyers, Planners, and Directors)
30%: Plan Management
- Manage account planning process to achieve or exceed revenue and profitability goals with professionalism and integrity.
- Monitor and review in season retailer performance, profitability and suggest actions to reduce retailer markdowns and maximize margin.
- Financial shipment forecasting (Budgets) by account and brands.
We’d Love to hear from you if:Must have:
- 6+ years of experience in planning principles, financial budgeting, retail and wholesale fundamentals, ad hoc reporting and analysis
- Bachelor’s degree
- Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into trends and initiate action.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate with various cross-functional partners (Executive communication skills)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel user
- Mentor team members
Preferred skills and experience:
- A wide variety of past experiences in planning principles, financial budgeting, retail and wholesale fundamentals, ad hoc reporting, and analysis
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to think big picture and provide strategic insight on the business
- Work cross-functionally with internal Sales and Merchandising partners as well externally with accounts
- Knowledge of retail fashion industry and/or children’s business
